For me the best aspect was the attached outdoor playground so that the children could go there after the food. The food was acceptable but it did take a very long time after ordering before it was served. The staff were friendly and welcoming and we did not have a reservation... There were also not nearly enough toilets and I had to wait 10 or 15 minutes in a queue, for the only cubicle (that I was aware of at the time - I have since learned of another!) But on the whole a nice restaurant visit.

I actually expected a little more from a potato house. The croquettes were nice and crispy on the outside, but like uncooked dumpling on the inside. The schnitzel was delicious, but I didn't understand why you had to put a piece of normal butter on it. My daughter's potato pancakes, on the other hand, were well made and tasted good. The fried potatoes were a bit bland and lacked bacon or onion. Unfortunately you don't have a lot of choice of restaurants in Blankenburg at lunchtime, but I wouldn't eat there again. But the service was nice!

After a nice hike with friends from Blankenburg over the Teufelsmauer to the Hamburg coat of arms and back again. We have made the decision to stop for dinner in Blankenburg. Since few restaurants were open at lunchtime, we ended up in the Blankenburg potato house. Our request to sit outside was not followed, although there were apparently still seats available. We were put in the last corner near the men's toilet. The prices on the menu are consistently very high, but the food is mediocre to poor. My conclusion: We had no expectations and were still disappointed ☹️ If you still want to have a good meal in Blankenburg, I can recommend the Bulgarian “Kutscherplatz”, which is only a stone's throw from the potato house.

A wonderful place to stop off. The ambience is beautiful and tempts you to travel back in time. Great food and very nice staff. Price and performance are really reasonable. We felt comfortable and drove home more than just full. Thumbs up and three more asterisks.

We just wanted to have a drink in this eatery .... When entering, the sign said please wait. Table will be assigned, unfortunately nobody came and we asked in the restaurant. The waitress then in an unfriendly tone, she knows her terrace and assigned us a table. The note for the contact details was thrown on the table in exactly the same tone. When after 20 minutes nobody came to take the order, we left this inhospitable place. I can only advise against this restaurant.

Zero stars ........ Were Tuesday 8.9.20 in the potato house in Blankenburg and experienced the worst and most expensive food ever Potato hash browns AND the pork loin (€ 18.90) were prepared in the deep fryer and were black and hard. On my complaint there was no excuse "yes, ok, you will get new ones" which were then reasonably enjoyable Another dish with cheese in the meat was tasteless and actually not edible In the potato house, the hash browns are taken out of the bag and nothing is freshly prepared Better go to McDoof because it tastes decidedly better

Good food and nice staff, what else do you need?

Nice service and nice terrace. We had hoped for more from the food, as the menu looks very promising. The side salad came before the main course, very nice. A small salad bowl, with the contents, iceberg lettuce, beans, corn, 2 slices of cucumber and ready-made dressing, not reaching over the edge. The fries for the main course were ready-made fries out of the bag and warmed up again. The fried potatoes, also a convenience product, had only seen the pan in passing. After the fried potatoes were criticized, a new plate came when one was already ready. The fried potatoes had been deep fried in the deep fryer. The meat had been kept warm and only lukewarm. The sauce is also likely a finished product. It was supposed to be a pepper sauce, but only one plate had two peppercorns in the sauce. A piece of herb butter (also a ready-made product) was served on the piece of meat, although this was not on the menu. All in all, we had expected considerably more homemade products from an “old German potato house”.

After a long day of hiking we went to the potato house on Saturday and had been looking forward to a hearty potato meal all day. The service was not very friendly at the beginning, but that improved over the course of the evening. The food was unfortunately a disappointment. I myself had the schnitzel filled with ham, cheese and mustard and served with fried potatoes. Unfortunately I couldn't find the cheese and the schnitzel was extremely dry. The fried potatoes didn't deserve this name. These were boiled potatoes that were briefly in the pan for a maximum of 4 minutes. In my opinion, these potatoes had nothing to do with fried potatoes. The pepper sauce served with the dish tasted like pepper, but it had a slimy consistency and was more reminiscent of a sweet and sour sauce. Also, the amount of sauce was very sad. Just a small blob that was nowhere near enough for the dish. My companion had a schnitzel with mushroom sauce and was happier. The schnitzel was good, the sauce was rather tasteless. Unfortunately, there is still a small piece of plastic in his slice of herb butter, which probably came from the packaging. We had ordered extra croquettes together. These were really excellent! The croquettes looked homemade and were really tasty. At a restaurant with the name Kartoffelhaus one expects that the focus is on the potato dishes and the side dishes are of the same quality as the croquettes. For a price of 17 euros per main course the quality and taste of the food was not adequate.

A very nice cozy restaurant with super great potato specialties. Two different waitresses served us. One of them was clearly in a bad mood. 😳

Service personnel should be reconsidered for individual employees. Unfriendly and in a tone that the customers run away. (Noticed in our presence) Our child had a hot cup of chocolate and a piece of cake ... only that the cake was not brought and the cup of chocolate had been empty for over half an hour. My wife and I wanted a bowl of potato soup with sausages ... we are still waiting here after over half an hour ... I cannot recommend this place in my opinion. Soup and cake arrived after 40 minutes ... Homemade soup .... 🤣 Maggi made the taste ... very bad. LG to everyone who wants to eat here.

Unfortunately not very convincing, after a long day of hiking we were looking forward to a hearty and special potato dish. Both hash browns and pancakes did not seem to be homemade and then to charge € 12 for 3 pancakes with applesauce from the jar, which is more of a cheek. The ambience is okay, the staff is nice too.

Had to wait 1 1/2 hours for our food, the table next to us ordered only 20-30 minutes later. Restaurant was not full, 2 service employees were present. There were no questions as to whether everything was ok or if you wanted to drink something. Food was ok, but not so that I would recommend it to someone / go again ... It's a pity, the location itself is quaint and beautiful with a great inner courtyard and children's playground

Nice restaurant with good food! We had potato pancakes and baked potatoes, the 3 potato pancakes per person were sufficient but for the adults it could have been one more ... the children made their portion, we had nothing to "rob" J ... but with a starter the portion for adults was in Order and very tasty too! The service was good, could occasionally be a little nicer and more attentive. Price-performance ratio was okay here.

We commissioned the Altdeutsche Kartoffelhaus to cater for our wedding celebration in the Great Castle in Blankenburg. We couldn't have made a better choice, the food and drinks were excellent, the service was very friendly and courteous. All of our wishes were implemented with great commitment. If it were possible I would give it over 5 stars.

We went for some cake and something to drink. The setting is very quaint inside a little plaza. The cakes were very tasty (homemade) and despite is being busy, the staff was very kind.

I visited the restaurant with my wife on a weekday. The courtyard is very inviting and the staff was nice and accommodating. For our dog there was a bowl of water. The portions were very large, my wife didn't make it. All in all a nice evening. We will be back!

We went there for lunch on Friday with the family. Sat outside in Corona times. The service was quick and the drinks were there quickly. However, we then waited a potato soup and a treat for 1 hour for two farmers breakfast, even though the restaurant was almost empty?!? The food was basically okay, even if I hadn't completely charred my onions at the farmer's breakfast 🙈. In view of the quality and speed offered, from our point of view it is too expensive and too slow also because the parking zone in front of the door is max. 1 hour.

And again everything was great, the food was delicious and almost too much, and the waitress was too joking, what more could you want! I would like to give more than five stars for that, but unfortunately I can't. I can definitely recommend a visit!

The staff was very unfriendly, rude, and quite racist. The food had a good large portion, and the presentation of the food was quite good. However, the quality of the food was something else. The meat I ordered came uncooked, and the parts were full of tendons which was so rubbery, which I was unable to eat. However, the ambiance was warm and cozy.
